23RD HOUR

Singer-songwriter duo with jazz,retro & acoustic influences

LAZOU is also half of the duo 23rd Hour.

23rd Hour provides a temporary escape to a timeless place where the past, present, and future blend seamlessly into the sonic equivalent of a delicious wine and chocolate pairing. Decandent, smooth vocals complement well-aged jazz chords to bring out subtle notes of millennial pop, with hints of Variété Française and Bossa Nova. Whether you're floating to the rhythm of waves listening to "Au Soleil", decorating your tree to "Let a day together be Christmas", or sipping your favorite beverage to "Until the Daylight Comes" on a cozy night in, the duo's music is sure to bring ageless sophistication to the occasion.

NUANCES: OUR ASIAN STORIES

A podcast at the intersection of culture, career and community.

Award-nominated (x2) culture & society podcast that explores the complicated relationships we have with our cultures and how they affect everything from our career choices to our views on LGBTQ+ rights, feminism, antiracism, and more.

In a world of dichotomies, we could all use a refresher on the nuances that often get lost in the main narratives.

- Are Iranians, Indians, Viets, and Filippinos Asian?
- Do Asian Americans feel more Asian or more American?
- How does being from the Asian diaspora affect our access to mental health?
- What is it like to navigate being LGBTQ+ as an AAPI?
- What are the inter-generational struggles we face and how do we set healthy boundaries to both honor our roots and be ourselves?
- How do stereotypes like "the model minority" affect us?
- What is the experience of mixed-race AAPI?
- What is the experience of AAPI who were adopted into a non-AAPI household?
- How does being AAPI affect our access to resources to manage grief, or disabilities?

Through the personal stories of my guests, I hope to invite everyone to learn more about each other, to challenge our internalized stereotypes, and to celebrate our diverse experiences. My goal is to provide a safe space for fun, uplifting, yet thought-provoking conversations for both the members and non-members of the diaspora.

For its 5th season, Nuances created a limited series titled Queering Premodern Asia that explored existing academic research on queer histories in Asia, featuring guest co-hosts from the Queer Asian community.
